Introducing Congregation Beth Yam
Whether you are a visitor or planning to become a part-time or full-time resident, the next time you are in beautiful South Carolina’s “Lowcountry,” come see what we’ve got going for us in Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and throughout Southern Beaufort County. Besides our renowned beaches, temperate climate, and natural environment, and beyond our recreational offerings inclusive of boating, golf, tennis, bike and walking trails, we have destination shopping venues, world-class dining, theatrical and art venues, a symphony orchestra, access to high quality medical care services, gated residential communities, senior care communities, excellent public and private schools—and so much more.
And we have a synagogue and a local Jewish Community with whom you can connect—Congregation Beth Yam, located in Hilton Head Island, SC.
From its inception in 1981, Congregation Beth Yam has evolved to become the only synagogue in the Greater Bluffton and Hilton Head Areas, Reform or Conservative, with a full-time spiritual leader. Rabbi Bloom, now entering his 17th year of leading and guiding this congregation, is well known throughout our local civic and faith-based communities. Additional reasons to consider Congregation Beth Yam as both your synagogue and local Jewish Community include:
- We are affiliated with the Union for Reform Movement (URJ).
- We are an inclusive, accepting, egalitarian, and multi-generational inter-faith congregation.
- Our current membership of 248 families consists of both full-time and part-time residents, retirees, prospective retirees and families who have relocated from all over the United States.
- All our welcome regardless of level of observance, religious practices, and Jewish identities.
- We are the only synagogue in the area to meet the ritual, spiritual (religious), educational, social, pastoral care and life-cycle needs of our congregants.
- In addition to our beautiful sanctuary, our congregation-owned facility has several multi-purpose rooms for special events, a full-service caterer-accommodating kitchen, and classrooms for its school and youth programs.
- An established Religious School.
- An active, supportive and community-engaged Men’s Club and Sisterhood.
- “Chavurah” social groups.
- Weekly Friday evening “Kabbalat Shabbat” Services.
- High Holy Day Services
- Special Services scheduled throughout the year, including occasional traditional Saturday Services.
