RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
Sunday School grades K-7
This year we are offering a new and exciting curriculum designed by the Institute of Southern Jewish Learning. It is a spiraled curriculum that encompasses grades early childhood through High school. Subjects covered include Hebrew and prayer, Jewish holidays culture and symbols, Jewish history, Israel, Jewish life cycle and values and Tanach (Bible). This course content is designed to ensure a quality Jewish education and understanding of our heritage. Classes meet scheduled Sunday mornings from 9:30 -12 noon.
Hebrew School grades 4-7
At Congregation Beth Yam, students in grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 are required to attend our after-school Hebrew classes held on Thursdays from 4:45 - 5:45 weekly throughout the school year. The Hebrew program intensely works toward each student's proficiency in reading Hebrew and the ability to lead prayers which are an integral part of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
High School grades 8-12
It is the hope of our congregation that all students will continue their Judaic studies beyond their bar/bat mitzvah year. We offer a Sunday class for 8th to 12th graders beginning with our Boker Tov service at 11:30 a.m. and continuing until 1:30 PM. This high school curriculum will build upon previous education while tackling more mature topics that may be of greater interest to this age group. Class sessions will operate in a casual atmosphere and will center on group discussion.
Tiny Tots ages 3-5 yrs.
The Tiny Tots program is a wonderful way to introduce our youngest children to their Jewish identity and get them accustomed to attending Sunday school. This year we will offer this class on two Sundays a month. The children will learn about the Jewish community, Jewish holidays and Mitzvot as well as have fun, meet their future classmates, and take part in school-wide programs with the older students.
